Please mark your calendars for the annual Peoria Chapter of ASM Social Evening.  You’ll enjoy an Hors D'oeuvres buffet, a fabulous seated dinner, and the entertainment.  The Kaizer Jazz Quintet performs a special brand of Jazz and Swing Standards to get everyone dancing.  The evening begins at 6:00 with a social hour that includes complimentary wine, beer, soft drinks, and a cash bar.

 

ASM Members - $20 per person ($40/Couple)

Non-ASM Members - $30 per person ($60/Couple)

Social Outing Reminder:

 

Please join us for the ASM social night at the Peoria Rivermen Game on February 26, 2000 (Saturday Night).  Anyone interested should notify Chad Siebenaler at (309) 633-8405 no later than Feb 21, 2000 and plan to be in the lounge of the Carver Arena with $11.00.

 

National Engineers Week:

 

ASM will be participating in National Engineers Week. The exhibits will be on display from 1-4:30 pm Sunday 2/20 at Lakeview Museum in Peoria. The exhibits will include Material Processing, Materials in Medical, Dental, and Vision care, Ceramics, Structural Materials, Corrosion and Electroplating, and Recycling. Please encourage future engineers to attend!

 

Scholarship Opportunities:

 

Spring Richard Van Pelt Scholarship:  One $1000 scholarship will be

awarded to a U of I sophomore or junior majoring in materials.

Applications available from Dr. Sun and are due on 2/16.

 

Gerald G. Hoeft Scholarship:  A $1000 scholarship will be awarded to

a Bradley University student interested in a materials related

career.  Applications available from Dr. Shareef and are due on 2/16.

 

High School Scholarships:  Two $1000 scholarships will be awarded to

high school seniors or junior college students who have been accepted

into a materials program at an accredited university.  Applications

will be available from career counselors at the end of January.

Applications will be due 4/06.
