Abstract:
The steel plate market must continue to evolve to meet changing market demand. The challenges of meeting market demand in the face of increasing pressure from imports are presented. Supply side changes are also affecting the market as the global economy begins to change steel plate market capacity. A broad look at the coming changes in the steel plate market is covered.
About Our Speaker:
Chris Navetta began his career with U.S. Steel in June 1969 and in the last 30 Years has served in a variety of financial, managerial, and administrative positions in such areas as minerals management, plastics, steels, specialty steels, and joint venture management. He currently has overall responsibility for performance of the Plate Products Business Unit at U.S. Steel. This encompasses Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, Operations, Technical Services, and Product Development. Mr. Navetta serves on the Owners Committee of the Ferralloy Processing Company, on the Executive Council of the National Steel Bridge Alliance, and is a member of the Institute of Management Accounting, the American Institute of Steel Construction, and the Steel Plate Fabricators Association. He is a graduate of Michigan State University and resides in Chesterton, IN with his wife, Phyllis.
Coffee Talk:
Brian Call is a recent University of Missour-Rolla graduate that led the UMR Solar Racer team to victory in the 1,450 Mile Washington D.C. to Orlando race. Teams from universities across the United States participated in the solar powered car contest. Brian will talk about the race, designing the car within the constraints of the many rules and regulations, and managing costs and time in the project.
