FAST FOR PEACE IN VIEQUES IN FRONT OF THE WHITE HOUSE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

In response to the U.S. Navy bombing practices in Vieques, His Holiness
the Dalai Lama states, "I [...] support the action of the people of
Vieques in protesting against such military exercises."

In this spirit, Héctor Rosario, a young Puerto Rican activist, will begin
an indefinite FAST for peace in Vieques in front of the White House
tomorrow Wednesday June 14 at 12:00 noon.  Héctor is demanding that
President Clinton meet with Viequense leaders and has stated that he will
continue his fast until this happens.

Members of the media, and all those who support peace for Vieques, are
invited to attend a Press Conference tomorrow June 14 at 12:00 noon in
Lafayette Park in front of the White House, when Héctor will officially
begin his fast and will provide more details on the same.

AYUNO POR LA PAZ EN VIEQUES FRENTE A LA CASA BLANCA

PARA DIVULGACIÓN INMEDIATA

En respuesta al bombardeo de Vieques por la Marina de los Estados Unidos
el reconocido Premio Nóbel de la Paz y líder espiritual, el Dalai Lama, ha
expresado "Apoyo la acción del pueblo de Vieques de protestar en contra de
dichos ejercicios militares."

En ese espíritu, Héctor Rosario, joven activista puertorriqueño, comenzará
mañana miércoles 14 de junio un AYUNO indefinido frente a la Casa Blanca
por la paz en Vieques.  Héctor le está reclamando al Presidente Clinton
que conceda una reunión a los líderes viequenses y ha expresado que
continuará su ayuno hasta que esto suceda.

La prensa, y todos los que apoyan la paz en Vieques, están invitados
a asistir a una Conferencia de Prensa mañana miércoles 14 de junio a las
12:00 del mediodía en Lafayette Park frente a la Casa Blanca, cuando
Héctor comenzará oficialmente su ayuno y proveerá más detalles sobre el
mismo.
