Committee Reports:
Movie Committee:
- Sunday at 2:00pm, The Matrix is to be shown. Really. We mean it this time. If it's not there and you show up, Ward will buy you lunch.
Recruitment and Relations Committee:
Officer's Reports:
Communications Officer:
- Conspicuously, no report.
Chief of Operations:
- Got an exclusive from Pocket Books: an excerpt from "The Lives of Dax", an upcoming anthology of stories about the various Dax hosts (all nine of them, spanning 350 years of Star Trek history). Just this afternoon, it's gotten over 100 hits, and many visitors have pre-ordered it from Amazon.com.
Grand Nagus:
- The current balance is $241.11.
First Officer:
- Aside from thanking Ward...
- No report.
Captain:
- We are once again an official organization, with all the rights and priveleges granted therefor.
Sci-Fi News:
- The next "Wheel of Time" book is tentatively scheduled for May 2000.
- Sierra On-Line, a computer game company, has recently undergone a "reorganization". In the process, a number of games in development were cancelled, including the Babylon 5 combat simulator "Into the Fire". 105 people lost their jobs as a result of the reorganization.
- There are a number of sites that are seeking a number of options to get the game re-started, including getting it sold to another company to continue development and to get it released as it is. See http://www.FirstOnes.com/ for more information.
- I said during the meeting that I should know by tomorrow whether we'll be getting Voyager on tape. I found out this evening that yes, WE WILL be getting tapes, thanks to a friend in Chicago. We will be watching them next Wednesday evening, before the meeting.
- There will be two web chats tomorrow (Thursday, 9/23) with Voyager folks.
- Next Tuesday, both Kate Mulgrew (Captain Janeway on Voyager) and Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy on Buffy the Vampire Slayer) are scheduled to be guests on The Rosie O'Donnell Show. The show airs in the afternoon on WHOI (cable channel 8), and at 9:00pm after Buffy on the WB (cable channel 17).
- Copies of the excerpt from "The Lives of Dax" were passed out at the meeting. I don't know how many copies were taken, because I had to leave before the meeting officially ended, so I left them on the table. I hope you enjoy them.
- (This wasn't mentioned in the meeting, oops!) As a small correction to previous weeks' minutes, the authors of "I, Q" are John deLancie and Peter David. John deLancie was Psi Phi's first honorary member, about four years ago.
- There are a number of conventions in the general vicinity of Illinois in the future.
New Business:
- Ward brought in the best of William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy's singing careers. As a remarkable coincidence, this was also the worst of their singing careers.
Adjournment: 10:30pm
