Picard and Lily are on their way to the Bridge and they're climbing up a Turboshaft. The atmosphere is very humid and clouds actually begin to form at the top of the huge shaft and then it starts to RAIN.
(This can happen under certain conditions inside large buildings like the VAB at Cape Canaveral, BTW. We had the Borg altering the environmental conditions on the Enterprise to a) alert Picard to their presence; and b) do this gag. We were going to work all the tech specifics to make this work regarding the pressure, the humidity, the volume of air in the shaft, etc. and then fudge the rest, but as I said we had to cut this whole sequence way before production so many of the tech details were never worked out.)
Anyway--it's raining and they're climbing. Suddenly a couple of Borg appear on the ladder far above them, climbing down. Time to get out. Picard tries to open a door, but it's jammed. Borg appear on the ladder below them, climbing UP. The door is still jammed. It starts to rain harder. Bolts of what look like lightening begin bouncing around the top of the shaft (having arced off some power nodes at the top of the shaft). Picard is slowly forcing the doors open, but the Borg are getting closer. Lily gets an idea. She takes off her belt and ties one end to a long line of optical cabling that Picard has yanked out of the wall, then ties the other end of the cabling to the metal ladder. Picard finally gets the door open, but the Borg are nearly on top of them. They scramble out, and as they do so, Lily THROWS the belt high up in the air of the shaft. A bolt of lightening HITS the large metal belt buckle, travels along the optical cabling, hits the metal ladder and FRIES the Borg.
It's either very cool, or completely insane. You be the judge.
