Playing the part(s)

Fall television viewers may have spotted Janice Allen ’92 on the season premiere of Cane and seen the production work of Matt MacDonald ’98 on a series of high-profile commercials. Earlier in the year, theatergoers who had tickets for the first national tour of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee laughed with Eric T. Petersen ’03 in the role of spelling champ William Barfée.

 

Janice Allen '92Janice Allen appeared as the socialite mother on Cane, a new CBS drama starring Jimmy Smits. Last summer she also was a regular on S.O.B., a BET series. Before she began acting, Janice earned a chemistry degree at Bradley and a master’s degree in physical chemistry at UCLA. “feel like I really couldn’t have taken any other path,” she remarks. Janice lives in Los Angeles.

 

Matt MacDonald '98Matt MacDonald, a creative director at JWT New York (formerly J. Walter Thompson), is in charge of the Smirnoff and Macy’s accounts. Matt wrote and produced the popular Macy’s ad campaign featuring numerous designers and fashion icons. Directed by Barry Levinson, the commercials feature celebrities including Martha Stewart, Donald Trump, Usher, Jessica Simpson, and P. Diddy. Matt lives in New York.

 

Eric T. Petersen '03Eric Petersen traveled with The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee national tour, beginning in August 2006. When the musical comedy’s tour was over in May 2007, Eric acted in summer stock at the Barn Theatre in Augusta, Michigan. The season included The Producers, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Eric resides in New York.
