Designs in the dirt: OLLI explores earthworks

Dr. Michael WiantThe Osher Lifelong Learning Institute will sponsor an OLLI regional trip exploring the meanings and mysteries of ancient earthworks May 19-21. Dr. Michael Wiant, director of Dickson Mounds Museum, will lead the regional trip that will explore aboriginal earthworks, which range from small mounds to huge designs covering dozens of acres.

The trip will begin at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indian and Western Art in Indianapolis. Other stops are in Ohio at Miamisburg Mound, Fort Ancient State Memorial, Serpent Mound State Memorial, Adena State Memorial, Hopewell Culture National Historical Park (Mound City), and the Ohio Historical Center.

The cost is $599 for double occupancy and $659 for single occupancy. Included are lodging, all admission fees, charter bus transportation, gratuities, docents, presentations, the reading list, field guide, and all meals. Visit bradley.edu/continue/olli for more information on costs.
