One Door Away from Heaven

When Micky meets Leilani, a child whose physical disabilities cannot
quench her spirit, she finds the purpose she so desperately
needs. Leilani's stepfather, a fanatical UFO believer, claims aliens will
heal Leilani by her approaching 10th birthday or take her away. Micky
learns an older brother, also disabled, has gone "to the stars," and
becomes concerned for Leilani. When the family vanishes, Micky sets off to
find them, joined by a world-weary detective.
