My Forbidden Face

Latifa

Born into a middle class Afghan family in Kabul in 1980, Latifa spent her teenage days talking fashion and music. When the Taliban seized power in 1996, it all changed. Latifa became a prisoner in her home and was forced to wear the chadri which covered her entire body. She tells of life under the Taliban regime with painful honesty and clarity. In 2001 she and her family escaped to France.
