In 1954 U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels and his partner, Chuck Aule, arrive at Ashcliffe Hospital, a federal institution for the criminally insane, to search for an escaped patient. The more they investigate, the more they believe that they may have been summoned to discover the true nature of Ashcliffe's treatments. As storms threaten to strand them, Teddy and Chuck discover they may have stumbled into an evil darker than any nightmare.
