Acceptable Risk
Robin Cook
Medical researcher Dr. Edward Armstrong is on the verge of
marketing the ultimate psychotropic drug, Soma: the next
generation of antidepressants with startling therapeutic
capability. The animal testing had gone smoothly and the first
human studies and only one minor problem, a short term memory loss
which is certainly an acceptable risk. With pressure from within,
Armstrong decides to experiment on himself, with disastrous
results. Then there's a congressional investigation that put two
people's lives in danger because there is so much at stake in terms
of money and reputation.
