Procedure Purpose
The purpose of this procedure is to document the retention of email records and the destruction of those records at the appropriate time.
Policy Supported
This procedure is in support of Electronic Mail Account Usage (5.05).
Procedure Description
All email that is processed (both received and sent) by our University email system will be archived for a period of time equal to the documented time in the Policy Table on the Controller’s web site. Email whose age exceeds the time identified in this table will be permanently deleted from the archive.
Procedure Scope
This procedure applies to the email archive for all faculty, staff, and administrators.
