Rajesh Soin, chairman of Soin International and IMET alumnus, receives Captain of Industry award

As a man of many good works, Rajesh K. Soin, Bradley University Master of Science in industrial engineering alumnus, has earned himself a respected reputation. Recently awarded the Institute of Industrial Engineers 2009 Captain of Industry Award, he is celebrated as a leader who used industrial engineering methods to generate company success.
Soon after his graduation in 1971, Soin worked as an industrial engineer at Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. and then joined Williams International as a manager of corporate systems. He and his wife, Indu, founded Modern Technologies Corp. in 1984, which grew into Ohio’s largest defense contractor before being sold to BAE Systems in 2004.
As founder and chairman/chief executive officer of Soin International, a holding company for privately owned companies launched in 1998, Soin continues his spirit of entrepreneurship while giving back to his community in the Dayton, Ohio, area. Wright State University renamed its business school in 2000 to honor Soin, and his gifts have also led to the Soin Pediatrics Trauma and Emergency Center at Dayton Children’s Hospital. Donations to Bradley have also made him a member of the University’s Renaissance Circle Society and have greatly benefited the Campaign for a Bradley Renaissance.
Most important, however, are the strong ties that Soin has kept with Bradley throughout his phenomenal career. He is honored as a Bradley Centurion and Distinguished Alumnus, and he remains an integral part of the university as its 91st member of the Board of Trustees.
