The Campaign for a Bradley Renaissance

A Gallery of Excellence

Dr. Charles Stoner, the Robert A. McCord Endowed Professor for Executive Management Development, spoke on behalf of the honored faculty at the Gallery of Excellence dedication ceremony.

Students, faculty, alumni and friends filled the atrium of the Cullom-Davis Library Thursday evening to enjoy the opening and dedication of Bradley University’s Gallery of Excellence. The Gallery features portraits of current holders of endowed professors and endowed chairs, as well as Bradley’s Caterpillar Professors.

Bradley President Joanne Glasser said she believed the library was the perfect place for the Gallery to be displayed.

“For years to come students, alumni and visitors will walk through this atrium and see some of the extraordinary academic talent that blesses Bradley University,” said Glasser. “These instructors – indeed the entire faculty – rank with any teachers and scholars anywhere. I am proud to be affiliated with you. And I am proud of what you do for our students every day.”

Dr. Charles Stoner, the Robert A. McCord Endowed Professor for Executive Management Development, and now a member of the Gallery of Excellence, also spoke at the event on behalf of the honored faculty, thanking the many benefactors who made the endowed chairs and professorships possible.

Endowed professorships like Dr. Stoner’s, not only honor outstanding faculty, they attract preeminent educators while recognizing those for whom they are named.  Likewise, endowed chairs empower Bradley University to attract, retain and honor distinguished faculty members, recognizing them for their academic excellence.

The final group honored in the Gallery of Excellence was the University’s Caterpillar Professors. Established in 2000, Caterpillar Professorships recognize and reward an exemplary level of scholarship and creative production among Bradley’s senior faculty.
