 About The Engine
The engine is a Ford 351 cubic inch big block, also known as a 351 Cleveland. It is out of a 1971
Ford Torino GT. The car belongs to the father of the clubs vice president.  This is the original, numbers
matching engine out of the car, and has never been rebuilt. The engine was disassembled by the club last
semester. During winter break the engine was taken to Precision Automotive in Davenport to be cleaned and
machined. The engines owner helped with the first day of reassembly, where the rotating assembly was
installed, along with the heads. After the rebuild is complete, the engine will be reinstalled in the car
in time to drive to our 3rd annual car show.
 Why rebuild an engine?
Many SAE club members had never gotten the oppurtunity to work on an engine in depth. After some brainstorming,
and a discussion with the engines owner, the engine rebuild workshop was created. This gave the members the
oppurtunity to work on an engine, without the financial strain on the club. This also gave the owner the
oppurtunity to rebuild the engine, which it was in definate need of, as well as to save him the time required
to disassemble it.
