Article 1: Name
The name of this organization shall be the vegetarian club of bradley
university. Hereafter referred to as BVC
Article 2: Purpose
The purpose of this club is to promote awareness and understanding
for the vegetarian lifestyles for health, economic, environmental,
ethical, moral, spiritual and religious reasons. The vegetarian
way of life as is endorsed in religious books and practiced by great
people like Plato, Leonardo Da Vinci, Akbar the Great, Newton, Shelly,
Tolstoy, Einstein, and Gandhi will be examined, discussed and encouraged
by this interest group.
Article 3: Membership
Section A: Any student, staff or faculty of Bradley University
may become a regular member of BVC with voting and office holding
right
Section B: Any former student, staff or faculty of Bradley University
may become an associate member of the BVC with no voting and office
holding right. Any other person may become an associate member provided
his or her name has been approved by the officers of the BVC.
Section C: Membership fee as determined by the executive committee.
Article 4: Executive Committee
The executive committee of the BVC will consist of three elected
officers and three advisors. The three officers President, Vice
President and Secretary/treasurer will be elected by the regular
members. The three advisors will be nominated by the President in
consultation with the other two officers, one of which will be the
ex-president.
Article 5: Duties of Executive Committee Members
President: To preside at executive committee membership meetings
: appoint special committees with the aproval of the executive board
: present an annual report : perform other such duties as may be
required by the laws or resolution of the executive committee.
Vice President: To preside in chairman's absence and perform other
such duties as may be required by the by-laws of resolution of the
executive committee. Plan and organize for activities, managing
finance an special events for committee.
Secretary/Treasurer: To attend to all general correspondence of
the organization and to keep minutes of all excutive committee and
membership meetings and to preserve the records of the organization.
She/he will be also supervise the financial administration of all
revenue periodically of the executive committee and memebership
on the financial condition of the organization, and perform other
such duties as may be required by the by-laws or resolutions of
the executive committee.
Advisors: As determined by the elected officers.
Article 6: Election
1. Election of officers shall take place yearly during the fourth
week of april.
2. The executive committee shall appoint a nominating committee
consisting of: facutly advisor, members preferably older members
selected from the membership, and the outgoing president, exofficio
shall serve as chairman of the nominating committee. She/he may
also serve again if elected.
3. Any regular memeber is eligible for nomination as an officer
of the executive committee who :(a) meets the college's eligiblity
for office holding, and (b) : fullfills the qualifications as set
up the executive committee.
Article 7: Amendment
Amendment to this constitution may be proposed to the voting membership
by the majority vote of the executive committee or by petition signed
by 1/5 of the voting membership. Amendments shall be declared adopted
which are presented at 2 general meetings and receive a majority
favourable vote at both meetings by the voting members present.
Article 8: By-Laws
By-laws, not inconsistent with this constitution, may be adopted
or amended by 2/3 vote of the regular members present at any regular
of special meetings, providing the by-laws are submitted in writing
at least one week previously at either a regular of special meeting
of the general meeting.
