Rush is the term used to describe the process of gaining membership into a fraternity or sorority. It is a mutual selection process where a student (referred to as a rushee) has the opportunity to meet with chapter members, ask a variety of questions, and tour living units.

Fraternity Rush is an informal process that provides students with an opportunity to visit with many individual fraternities and meet the men who make up one of the strongest Greek Systems in the United States. Every semester fraternities will contact prospective members by letter, telephone or personal visits. Individual fraternities may also host a variety of activities to give prospective members and their parents an opportunity to learn more about individual chapters and meet members from those chapters.

As you attend various fraternity rush events, expect to meet a lot of people. You should take the time to get acquainted with members from different chapters on campus. Just as fraternities are looking for the right men to join their chapters, you should be looking for a chapter that is right for you. Membership begins once you, your parent, and a representative of the chapter you are joining have signed your pledge card and the card is returned to the Office of Greek Affairs. You will receive more specific information about pledging on.
