Habitat for Humanity is a project to provide low cost housing to families that need it. Founded in 1976, Habitat for Humanity has been working to achieve its goal of eliminating poverty housing worldwide. In the tri-county area, Habitat has been building and renovating homes since 1989 in partnership with low income families who cannot afford a conventional bank mortage. Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Peoria Area has built or renovated 25 homes since it began.
